ASEAN INTERNSHIP SCHEME FOR HK HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS 2025

The 2026 Round of the ASEAN Internship Scheme (the Scheme) for Hong Kong Higher Education Students is taking off. You and your company as well as your organisation are cordially invited to become Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore’s host organisation, providing internship opportunities to Hong Kong university students in the summer of 2026 in your country and city.
As you may know, Hong Kong is one of the top education hubs with 5 universities ranking among the global’s top 100, where you can source the best talents. By joining the Scheme, you can utilise our students’ cross-disciplinary skills to re-imagine/ re-engineer operations to add value to your organisation. You may also tap the young generation's fresh ideas, identify suitable talents to assist in your future dual expansion in South East Asia or GBA (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area) while serving the meaningful purpose of grooming the young generation.
Key Features of the Scheme
- Interns: undergraduate & postgraduate students from 13 Hong Kong institutions, coming from a wide range of academic disciplines
- Internship period: any 6-10 consecutive weeks, usually between every May to Aug, subject to your discussion with the chosen institutions/ interns
- Logistical arrangement: air tickets, accommodation, work visa, insurance, transportation to be arranged by institutions & interns
- Honorarium to interns: optional

Achievements of the Scheme
- Around 1000 students joined the Scheme since 2014
- Host organisations included three Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices (in Singapore, Bangkok and Jakarta), APEC Secretariat, various private companies in the fields of aviation, port, finance, law, education, MICE etc.
About our office
Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore is one of the three representative offices of Hong Kong Gov in the ASEAN region. We foster the bilateral relations between Hong Kong and the three members of ASEAN, namely Singapore, Laos, and Vietnam, as well as India. Our office has been working with stakeholders, such as local governments, business chambers and associations, think tanks and media to keep them abreast of the latest developments in Hong Kong. This Internship Scheme is part of our ongoing engagement effort to link up Hong Kong youngsters with the prospective companies/ organisations, and to cultivating them as "ambassadors" in the thriving ASEAN economies.

ĐẮK LẮK LAUNCHES THREE MANUFACTURING PROJECTS WORTH US$30 MILLION
Đắk Lắk Province has broken ground on three new industrial projects at Hòa Hiệp 1 Industrial Park with a combined investment of nearly VNĐ790 billion (US$30.2 million). The projects are the Agrilong–Green World Fertiliser Plant, the Bá Hải Canned Food Processing Plant, and the Kotinochi Phú Yên Semi-Trailer and Spare Parts Manufacturing Plant. The investors are Hoang Long Vina JSC, Ba Hai JSC, and Kotinochi JSC, respectively.
HCMC PROPOSES NO MARKUP ON OFFICIAL LAND PRICES
HCMC’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment has proposed setting the land price adjustment coefficient, known as the K factor, at 1 for households and businesses, meaning land-use fees and rents would be calculated directly from the official land price table without any upward adjustment. The proposal, included in the third draft regulation submitted by the department to the land price appraisal council, is intended to ease financial burdens on residents and businesses while supporting a recovery in the real estate market.

According to Chung, 2026 is considered a pivotal year as the Vietnamese economy enters a new development phase with a series of new policies on socioeconomic development, planning, and infrastructure investment. Against the backdrop, the real estate market is facing significant opportunities to enter a new development cycle.
HCMC: ‘5+1’ MODEL AIMS TO LIFT SERVICES TO 75% OF GRDP BY 2040
High-value services are set to account for 70-75% of HCMC’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) by 2040 under a “5+1” development model centered on the Vietnam International Financial Center in HCMC (VIFC-HCMC). The target is outlined in a recently issued plan by the HCMC government to turn the city into a major services hub for Vietnam and the region, with a focus on high-value, modern industries. The plan aims to reshape the economy toward a more efficient and sustainable structure.
